Women’s World Day of Prayer 2016
Friday 4th March 2016
A Global Day of Prayer
On Friday 4th March 2016 an estimated 3 million people are expected to gather in over 170 countries to observe the day of prayer, sharing the same order of service that will be translated into over 1000 different languages and dialects. In the British Isles alone over 6000 services will be held.
This year’s service has been prepared by the Christian women in Cuba. The theme of the service is ‘Receive children. Receive me’ reflecting St Mark’s Gospel, chapter 10 verses 13-16, which is the focus of the service and a reminder that everyone is a child of God and equally worthy of our love and respect.
You can be part of this ecumenical worldwide event with two local services:
10am St John’s Stoke, Stoke Road, GU1 1HB
7.30pm Burpham Church, Church of the Holy Spirit, New Inn Lane, GU4 7HW
Refreshments will be served after both services, with an opportunity to join in warm fellowship with others from churches throughout Guildford.
Although organised and led by women, this is a day of prayer for everyone; men, women and young people of all denominations are invited to attend.
Women’s World Day of Prayer is an international, interchurch organisation which enables us to hear the voices of women, from a different part of the world each year, expressing their hopes and concerns and bringing them before the rest of the world in prayer.
