Worship opportunities during Covid-19

Worship opportunities

There are opportunities for us to worship, either live or livestreamed even if we are confined to home.  There are now many opportunities to worship in the safety of your home. See  https://urc.org.uk/latest-news/3385-coronavirus-worshipping-digitally

Some of you already receive email Daily Devotions from the URC and I would recommend joining this if you haven’t already done so. They are now offering a Sunday service . At 10am an additional post will go out, a radio-style / podcast service with hymns, readings, prayers and a sermon. The Sunday Service email will contain an order of service and words for you to sing along with the hymns. This is free.  Just sign up at devotions.urc.org.uk or access them direct from our own web site.

Don’t forget that the BBC is stepping up the number of religious services of worship that they provide both on TV and radio.

Here are some reminders from our Moderator, Clare Downing and a prayer from the Methodist Church:

At times of bad news, remember that as church we have a good news story to share in deed and in word. In these difficult times, I pray that we will be aware of God’s loving presence with us, that we will continue to care for each other, and that we will find ways of sharing the gospel and growing in faith despite what is happening around and to us.

Please keep yourselves as safe as possible. Please pray, and continue to show the love of God to those around you. Here is a prayer, received from the General Secretary of the URC.

Lord Jesus,
In the midst of a storm,
You said, ‘Peace be still.’
Bid our anxious fears subside,
Sustain your church in faith, hope and love,
Bring our nation through this tumult,
Grant wisdom to those with heavy responsibilities,
And healing and hope to those who are infected.
Amen
