As part of the church outreach to the world community we support the education of six secondary aged school girls in Malawi. It is one of the poorest countries in the world, and often girls are not educated beyond the early years. This is done by direct links to the school with a local partner.
We also are sometimes able to continue support for further studies beyond school.
In 2017 we decided that it was time to bring the Malawi project with Mlanda Girls School in Lilongwe to a close. So that the remaining funds we still held could be used for the intended purpose, that is the further education of girls, after consultation with our contact in Malawi, we decided to support one of the students with a scholarship to help her train as a nurse.
We have transferred the remaining funds to support this young woman. This has drawn our Malawi project, which began nearly 14 years ago, to an end.
Thank you to all who have supported all the fund-raising activities over the years and donated so generously to the project.
